Philosophy

The School of Fish believes in connecting children from all backgrounds with hands-on learning opportunities that will grow their natural curiosity and develop a lifelong desire to do good. Our core values and beliefs, and our exclusive W.A.V.E. stages learning program, guide us daily on achieving our mission.

Integrity and
Transparency

We recognize that trust and respect are the foundation of growth between educators, parents and their children. Open communication and thoughtful policies work to build relationships between us and families.

Limitless Learning
and Innovation

To best prepare our children for the future, we must help define the future. Through constant review of industry and societal standards, we imagine and develop improved ways of early education.

Equity and Access

We believe all children deserve access to quality early education in a safe and welcoming environment. Advocating for policies, practices, and systems that promote full and inclusive programs, we strive to create opportunities for children, families, and early childhood professionals.

Core Values and Beliefs

CATCH THE W.A.V.E.

By providing a safe and welcoming learning environment, a child can be curious, discover new things, practice critical thinking and ultimately develop a foundation for constant growth.

“W” is for wonder.

This is the first stage into any learning window of opportunity. A child’s natural curiosity fuels their desire to learn something new. We believe creating an environment where they feel confident and comfortable will keep them asking, what, when, where, who and how.

“A” is for act.

When their curiosity must be satisfied, we transition into a discovery stage. It’s time to explore through hands-on learning to find the answer to their question. Whether pre-planned or spur of the moment, we carefully guide every child’s need to act.

“V” is for value.

After our hands-on learning activity, now we must value the outcome. This includes understanding what went well and what did not. This stage focuses on critical-thinking skills and analyzing what was discovered to answer their questions.

“E” is for evolve.

By successfully following the W.A.V.E. stages, there has been an evolution. Our students have satisfied their natural curiosity and learned something new. The School of Fish educators guide children through this process multiple times a day for continuous growth.
